Multi-Player Trivia

In a Multi-Player Trivia game, users who scan a Qapture code can participate in a quiz consisting of multiple-choice questions. After answering all the questions, the user receives a score based on the accuracy of their answers and the time taken to respond to each question

Creating a Multi-Player Trivia Game

The following will outline at a high level the steps for creating a Multi-Player Trivia game and assumes the reader is familiar with the CMS system and the steps required to create a content item and campaigns.

Design

The steps to designing the Multi-Player Trivia game are outlined in Designing your Qapture Content. In the Design area, the user can choose to upload a cover photo for the game. Supported formats are .jpg, .png, and .gif. Alternatively, video can be uploaded as well.

The Trivia section contains general settings for the game.

The first field is the "Trivia title", which is mandatory to fill. A subtitle may optionally be added in the "Subtitle" field.

The number chosen in the "win timeout, mins" field is the number of minutes after starting the game that the winner is declared.

The "question timeout, sec" field is used to score the user based on the time it took them to input their answer.

Word Jumble

In a Word Jumble, the user must answer a series of questions within a set time interval. Each question is a word jumbled by scrambling its letters. The user needs to form the correct word using the letters displayed in the jumble box and input it into the answer field.

After answering all the questions, the user receives a score based on the accuracy of their answers and the time taken to respond to each question. The scoring logic is similar to that of Multi-Player Trivia games.

The following will outline at a high level the steps for creating a Word Jumble game and assumes the reader is familiar with the CMS system and the steps required to create a content item and campaigns.

Word Jumble Section

The fields in the "Word jumble" section:

  • Title: Appears throughout all pages of the content

  • Subtitle: Appears below the title throughout all pages of the content

  • "Timeout" message: Message that appears if the user has not answered all the questions in the allotted time

    • Optionally, one can select Advanced "Timeout" message settings to configure the colors and display time of the "Timeout" message

  • Submit button text: The text displayed on the button for submitting the answer. The button appears once an answer has been entered.

  • Win timeout, mins: Number of minutes allotted for the game before it reaches timeout.

  • Question timeout, sec: This number does not affect the gameplay, but is used to determine the players' score.

  • Allow user to see right answers:

    • Show right answers immediately: Immediately after each question is answered

    • Show right answers on results screen: After all questions are answered

    • Show user’s answers on results screen: After all questions are answered

  • Enable sound effects: add sound effects for correct answers, incorrect answers, and timeout

  • Enable Haptics effects: if enabled, the phone will vibrate upon an incorrect answer or timeout

  • Enable multiple entries for the same user: Allow user to play the same game more than once

Q&A

In the Q&A section, the fields required for the questions are filled. At first there is only one question, and more questions can be added by clicking the button.

The fields for each question:

  • Question title

  • Question subtitle

  • Upload media: Optionally add an image/video/audio file to the question

  • Correct answer

  • Shuffled answer: The word can be reshuffled to assure that it's in a suitable configuration

Image Search and Recognition

The user must answer questions within a given time interval. Each question has answer options presented as images, and the user must select the correct answer by clicking on the appropriate image. All questions share a single list of images. After answering all the questions, the user receives a score based on the correctness of their answers and the time taken for each response. The scoring logic is similar to that of multi-player trivia games.

The fields in the "Image Search and Recognition" section:

  • Title: Appears throughout all pages of the content

  • Image display mode: Choose between Fill, Fit, or Crop

  • Allow user to see right answers:

    • Show right answers immediately: Immediately after each question is answered

    • Show right answers on results screen: After all questions are answered

    • Show user’s answers on results screen: After all questions are answered

  • Enable sound effects: add sound effects for correct answers, incorrect answers, and timeout

  • Enable Haptics effects: if enabled, the phone will vibrate upon an incorrect answer or timeout
